In states where marijuana has been legalized, growers face increasing pressure to maintain healthy cannabis crops. But lack of research and regulation on use of pesticides in marijuana production creates a “regulatory void in which, theoretically, anything goes,” the Food and Environmental Reporting Network reports. The gap in knowledge about chemicals used to grow cannabis may be detrimental to “the hundreds of thousands of people who smoke or consume legal marijuana, as well as those who work at the grow operations.”
