Connecticut yet to establish an efficient system for medical-record sharing

While Connecticut health care providers have received $300 million in federal funds to create an electronic records system, the state still has not developed an effective sharing system, reports The Connecticut Mirror.

[Lawmakers] are trying to restart efforts to create a health information exchange, motivated in part by concerns that the lack of a neutral, statewide system is not just hindering patient care but giving large health systems a way to squeeze out independent physicians and [making it harder] for patients to see [competing] providers.
