Gun control has become a central issue in the Connecticut Governor's race.  two super PAC's have spent $2.4 million in advertising lauding Dannel P. Malloy's support of a sweeping gun control law.

Major pro-gun groups aren't spending the same cash: the National Shooting Sports Foundation has only contributed $60,000 on ads attack Malloy's pro-gun control stance.

Republican candidate Tom Foley has said he would not actively repeal the existing 2013 gun-control law, but would sign a repeal bill should one pass.

From the story: "The heavy spending by the two national gun-control groups comes after in-state backers of gun control, including some families of the Newtown victims, have managed to raise relatively modest sums in support of the governor and legislators behind the law.

The Connecticut law passed in 2013 expands background checks required for the purchasers of firearms and ammunition and bans the retail sale of military-style semiautomatic weapons, such as the AR-15 used in the Newtown attack, and large-capacity firearms."
