Sacramento City Council members get thousands of taxpayer dollars to spend on their own accord. Without much restriction, council members have used the money for movie nights and bounce houses.
From the KCRA story: The mayor and City Council members have to pay their own set salaries and costs for any personal staff they hire out of their accounts, but the remainder is up to them on how they spend it, or whether they carry it over to the next year.
